All youth and adult participants must be registered members of the Boy Scouts of America. All adults must have unexpired certification in the appropriate Youth Protection training course. To ensure that all requirements are met, see Philmont's "Attendance Advisories & Requirements."
This application will be posted when available and is only for use by members of existing BAC Council Contingent crews. If you do not currently belong to a crew, please submit a provisional app.
Individual scouts may attend Philmont provisionally with the Baltimore Area Council contingents. There are opportunities to join unit crews that are seeking more members, or fully provisional crews. Whenever possible, scouts are placed in crews in or close to their own scouting districts, to facilitate crew meetings and shakedowns. Provisional applicants should fill out a provisional application.
Individual adults can sometimes be placed provisionally, depending on the availability of adult openings in existing or provisional crews. This is typically discussed on a case-by-case basis by contacting the BAC Philmont committee. Provisional adults are expected to meet all Philmont participation requirements at the time of application.
There are also opportunities for scouts to attend unique individual programs at Philmont. More info is available here on the Philmont website.
Contingent dates: July 7-20, July 9-22, 2019 or July 14-27, 2020

Boy Scout and Venturing units may attend Philmont with their Council contingent (if applicable) or participate in the Philmont-direct lottery, for an opportunity to bring unit crews to Philmont. Units are now allowed to send crews to Philmont in consecutive years, through either system. Units may sign up for one or more crew slots.
Each year, the Baltimore Area Council sends one or two contingents to Philmont under the leadership of the BAC Philmont Committee, with the number of crews based on demand. A portion of the Council's contingent crew slots are allocated to units who wish to send an entire crew to Philmont. Units may fill out a crew application, available in February each year. We are happy to combine units with less than 12 participants with other partial crews or with provisional scouts, to maximize the opportunity for those wishing to attend. To be included on the email reminder list or get additional information, contact us.
The Philmont-direct lottery is available each autumn for units who wish to sign up their unit directly with Philmont. Because of the great demand for these crew slots, there is often a long waiting list. Units that end up on the Philmont waitlist may choose to submit an application to attend with a Council contingent instead. Units that go directly through Philmont are responsible for arranging their own training, travel and other logistics. Click here for information on applying for the Philmont-direct lottery.
